What happens if you take the same whisky that the Glenmorangie 10 is made from and finish it in a mixture of Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso sherry casks for two additional years? You get the Glenmorangie Lasanta!

Lasanta sounds like a Spanish word (the saint), but it's actually a Gaelic word that means "warmth", indicating the warm features that this whisky is supposed to have.

Chill-filtered: Yes.

Nose: A wave of raisins, dried cherries, old leather and pungent overripe bananas hits the nostrils, followed by freshly cut mangoes, roasted almonds and a touch of dark chocolate. After a while, it morphs into a very lightly honeyed tea, with raisins still floating around in the background. As the honey note fades, the tea aroma becomes more like Indian chai tea, with a very light hint of vanilla hiding behind the cinnamon and cloves. 23/25

Palate: Rich and fruity with dried cherries, raisins and figs at the front, followed by a slightly nutty note of almonds or walnuts and spices reminiscent of cinnamon or nutmeg, giving it a fruitcake like vibe. This is then followed by a rotting leather note that's similar to old grapeskins that have been lying on the table overnight. 18/25

Finish: Long with raisins and cinnamon intermingling, giving a sweet yet spicy finish that slowly rises in intensity for about twenty to thirty seconds before slowly fading away. 20/25

Conclusion:

Richer and more full-bodied than the original, this is a good expression for those who enjoy sherry cask finished whiskies. The sherry helps mellow out some of the rougher edges that the 10 year old has, but the raisin note can be a little overpowering at times. It’s not quite a sherry bomb, but it’s close enough.

끝맛: 여운이 깁니다. 건포도의 달콤함과 계피의 매콤한 피니시가 20초에서 30초 정도 이어지네요.
